A conversation between Eric Ezechieli , Co-Founder of NATIVA and Alessandro Armillotta , Co-Founder & CEO of AWorld.
Why joining the Regenerative Society Foundation?
Eric: I believe that business can be an agent of positive change and regenerate the biosphere and society. RSF was founded in this spirit in 2019. At that time, no group of companies had a specific focus on the imperative of regeneration. Now this focus is increasingly present and necessary, and it is increasingly obvious to highlight it, given the waves of regression we are experiencing.
The Regenerative Society Foundation is an association of progressive companies that want to involve others. What sets the Foundation apart is the quality of its participants.
Alex: I joined the Regenerative Society Foundation because I believe deeply in the power of collaboration between individuals and organizations committed to building a regenerative future. We need more spaces where people come together to rethink systems, share solutions, and act with purpose. This Foundation creates that space.
What makes a business regenerative?
Eric: Regeneration is a concept that goes beyond sustainability; it is about satisfying an equation that enables life and allows it to continue. Regeneration is therefore a mindset that goes hand in hand with measurement tools and culture spreading. If we think that the regenerative model is not profitable, it is because we are not doing the math right, we are not taking into account the externalities of our actions as companies, people…
A business is regenerative if it manages to create greater economic, social, and environmental value than it uses to operate.
Alex: A regenerative business doesn’t just minimize harm. It contributes to the renewal of ecosystems, communities, and resources. It means shifting from a model that extracts value from the planet to one that gives back.
In a regenerative business, every product, service, or process becomes a way to restore balance and reinvest in what sustains us.
How does your company contribute to regeneration?
Eric: NATIVA was created to accelerate the transition towards regenerative paradigms. For years, we have been supporting companies in all sectors on their path towards regeneration and designing regenerative business models.
As NATIVA, we have contributed to the development of a framework for measuring regeneration projects, which is intended to be an open platform for dialogue with other organizations working in the same field and promotes the development of RSF’s multidisciplinary systemic approach. We also strongly promote the theme of regenerative governance in the various conversations we have and advocate for the promotion of this model, which can accompany the evolution of the company from a regenerative perspective.
Alex: At AWorld, we focus on people. Regeneration won’t happen without cultural change, and that’s what we work on every day. Our goal is to engage, educate, and empower citizens, employees, and consumers to take action. We help close the gap between good intentions and real behavior, showing people the impact of their daily choices and how they can be part of the solution.
Why participating in the Regeneration 20|30 Forum?
Eric: Regeneration 20|30 Forum addresses a fundamental issue that companies cannot ignore and must take an active stance on. I hope to leave the Forum with a sense of collective awakening/awareness, a mass mobilization in response to the dysfunctions we experience today.
Alex: The Forum is a chance to bring together the right people, align on shared goals, and build momentum. We can’t afford to work in silos. This is the moment to show up and move forward together.
Participating is a must because regeneration is not optional. It’s the foundation for any kind of future worth living in.
I want to leave the Forum with a renewed sense of possibility. In uncertain times, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or stuck. But this is exactly when vision, courage, and connection matter most. I hope to walk away feeling re-energized, with new ideas and partnerships that push the work even further.
