RSF @ COP28

Save the date! On 11 December 2023, as part of the Italian Pavilion programme at Cop28, RSF will hold the event ‘Regenerative Economy for a Just Transition. Managing food security, water and global health’.
The role and regeneration of natural resources are crucial for the functioning of agri-food systems and for the management of negative externalities on ecosystems. Trough the regenerative economy, starting from agriculture and running through the entire value chain, it is possible to design efficient and regenerative agri-food systems that create positive externalities both in terms of mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

List of organisations that will be in attendance:

  • Regenerative Society Foundation – Arvea Marieni, Technical Director
  • UNFCCC Secretariat – Daniele Violetti, Senior Director, Programme Coordination UNFCCC
  • EIT Food – Lucy Wallace, Chief of staff
  • Farmshine – Luca Alinovi, Co-founder Farmshine and Aflazero
  • Renewables Grid Initiative Antonella Battaglini, CEO
  • Planet Farms – Mita De Benedetti, Head of Impact
  • Deutsche Umwelthilfe – Sascha Müller-Kraenner, Executive director
  • Pakistan-China Institute – Mustafa Sayed, Executive Director
  • European Commission – speaker TBC

The panel will open with a video address by EU Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevičius.

How can we reshape our food systems for a regenerative and sustainable future? The panel will seek to answer this question and provide an opportunity to present a sustainable agriculture model in Kenya offering insights into innovative and sustainable ways of designing and implementing sustainable agri-food supply chains. In the light of the global (UNFCCC), European (Green Deal) and international operating framework, best practices, critical issues, and possibilities for evolution offered by the market for a just transition will be analyzed. Starting from the regenerative approach proposed by the Regenerative Society Foundation, and shedding light on the regulatory requirements and necessary actions required by the Legislature (Italian and European), it will be shown how companies can offer practical solutions to the ecological transition on a local and global scale.
